A Child’s Song by Ishigaki Rin

When Daddy died,
they placed a white cloth over his face.

It was like placing a white towel
over a dinner plate when the meal is ready.

Everyone was crying
Huh, Daddy must not taste very good
He’s so bad, it’s bringing them to tears
That’s what I thought.

Now when Mommy dies
they will place a white cloth on her
And we’ll have to eat her all up
for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

On the day that I die
I’ll do it even better
Under the white cloth
it’ll be like a gourmet meal.

Fish, chicken, and other animals,
they all die like that, in such delicious ways.
