Clammbon’s “Folklore”

Folklore

Folklore

The night the typhoon passed over, I went to the roof and looked down at the city.
The wind was still blowing a little, but I let the moment slip through my fingers.

The neon sign on the complex next door flickered like a heat wave.
I had watched the city from here many times, but I had never seen it like this.

It felt like something would change at any moment,
like everything would fade away any minute, the sixth of June.

I could hear an announcement for the last train of the night, like every other night,
and, like every other night, I stared up at the sky for a long time.

My eyelids became heavy and I let them slowly close.
From far away I heard your voice call out to me, and I knew I had to go.

It felt like I could jump over the trough at any moment,
like my mind would suddenly become clear any minute.
It felt like something would change at any moment,
like everything would fade away any minute, the sixth of June.

I looked at my watch. The hands pointed to two. The moment had already passed.
Just another minute and my mind would have gone blank. One more minute.

The night the typhoon passed over, I went to the roof and looked down at the city.
The wind was still blowing a little, but I let the moment slip through my fingers.
